OPEN LETTER TO ENVIRONMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS
May 27th, 2020

Earth and all living beings are under threat from the many environmental challenges we now face:
Climate change, deforestation, pollution, oceanic dead zones, and so on. But one threat to all life that
has largely gone unnoticed by the International Environmental Community is that of our vast and
growing e-footprint from technology as well as from the associated radiofrequency microwave
radiation exposures.
Our organization, Stop 5G International, strongly urges environmental organizations around the world
to consider the impacts of 5G on the environment. It is our hope that after reading our letter and
examining the literature, you will decide to take immediate action, as time is of the essence.
Kindly give us a moment of your time to reflect on the following question as the answer will affect our
entire ecosystem.
Should environmental organizations embrace 5G and the wireless revolution or sound the alarm?
Many environmental organizations have embraced what’s known as the Fourth Wave of
Environmentalism which takes advantage of innovations in wireless technology to address
environmental challenges. Fourth Wave Environmentalism prides itself on the use of satellites, facial
recognition technology, the internet of things, sensors, cameras, block chain, and a very cozy
relationship with the technology industry.
But what if technology itself and the move to an all-things-connected world were a key contributor to
environmental devastation? What if technology “solutions” were actually creating a huge e-footprint
contributing to climate change? What if the internet, poised to envelope and digitalize every inch of
the planet, were itself one of the biggest threats we now face?
Do the Benefits Outweigh the Costs?
Wireless technology offers applications that can be useful for things such as tracking endangered
species, measuring and monitoring pollution levels, etc. But the question we must ask is do the
benefits of wireless technology outweigh the many and multifaceted harms? Will millions of wireless
antennas on earth, tens of thousands of satellites in space, billions of sensors and cameras squeezing
from our world every “bit” of data imaginable, provide overall benefit or harm to our infinitely finetuned web of life? As digitalization spirals out of control in an ever-expanding web of technology gone

rogue, perhaps it’s time to consider whether the harms outweigh the hoped for and hyped about
benefits.
What Are the Costs?
The impacts of 5G’s mega e-footprint include, but are not limited to,
1) Health impacts to animals, plants, trees, and humans from exposure to well over a trillion times more
radiation than what life evolved in – Radiation densely punctuated by bio active pulsed modulations
carried along the frequencies.
2) Mega energy consumption (largely obtained still from burning fossil fuels) to manufacture and
support an all things humming and buzzing world.
3) E-waste and the fallout of hazardous chemicals from the manufacturing and disposal of all the (largely
unnecessary) internet connected things and devices.
4) Disruption to the navigation and orientation of birds, bees, and other insects, as well as to many other
species that rely on the natural radiation levels in which life evolved.
5) Impacts on the electrical circuit around Earth as well as on life forms, for we are all “electrical
beings.”
6) Space debris from likely collisions that will potentially render parts of space “unusable” and with
unknown costs to the environment both on Earth and in space.
7) Ozone depletion from the soot and particulates emitted from the fast-growing number of rocket
launches.
8) The colossal increase in consumption when clearly what is needed is less. With more people now
having cellphones than toilets, is an internet-connected world really the best use of our resources?
The wireless industry is on the loose. Innovations are happening years before governments, the
public, and environmental organizations can begin to assess the costs. But there is no choice. We
must look before we leap and halt the rollout of 5G until safety studies have been conducted, and it is
determined that the benefits outweigh the costs. Each new service, frequency, antenna, and satellite,
must be examined and only approved if 1) the benefits truly outweigh the costs, 2) it is a necessary
service or product, and 3) there is no other means of obtaining the same or equivalent service or
product.
International Conventions and Laws
The public has not given its informed consent, and in fact, neither have governments or
environmental organizations. The reason for this is that most people are not even aware of the cosmic
knot growing bigger each day from the convergence of 5G antennas, satellites, data-harvesting, the
internet of things, smart cities, artificial intelligence, space weapons, and so forth. Unbeknownst to
the public, industry has manufactured a largely invisible technological “eco-system” that preys off of
us and the environment, and profoundly threatens our very survival.
There are many Conventions and Laws that can and must be used to better protect the environment
from manmade electromagnetic radiation pollution as well as from all the other assaults on the

environment from our ever-expanding e-footprint. For your convenience, we have shared links to a
few of these immediately beneath this message.
There Is a Solution
Thankfully, there is a safer and more reliable solution that we have had for well over 20
years, fiber/wired technology. By using wired connections for the vast majority of internet and
telecommunications needs, reserving wireless as an ancillary service, we can enjoy the benefits of
technology while minimizing the harms.
Wired technologies such as fiber or coaxial cable are far superior as they are faster, more reliable,
resilient, energy-efficient, and more easily defended from cyberattacks. Above all, wired technologies
are significantly less hazardous to our health and to other life forms with whom we share this planet.
We invite you to study the references below and to do your own research. If, after doing so, you agree
that blanketing every inch of the planet in wireless radiation is not sustainable, please consider
moving toward a Fifth Wave of Environmentalism that would call for a halt to 5G and a transition to
safer wired connections wherever possible.
The Fifth Wave of Environmentalism would strongly advocate for safe technology, aka SafeG™–
Technology that prioritizes health, well-being, and true necessity over industry profit.

The term “False Flag” is defined as a covert operation designed to deceive; the deception creates the appearance of a particular party, group, or nation being responsible for some activity, disguising the actual source of responsibility. After looking at a recent (May 10) demonstration against vaccinations/ COVID -19 restrictions/ and 5G conspiracies, etc., which took place in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Hobart (see media reporting below), I’m wondering just who these supposed demonstrators were and who organised the coordinated events? Rag tag hastily written signs with the usual mixture of radical looking protesters. A real win for the telco industry as it effectively gives the general public the impression that concerns over 5G are in the looney bin, not to be taken seriously. Now, if I were working for whatever professional PR firm has been tasked by the federal government to spend that $ 9 million budget to convince the Australian public that 5G is safe, this is exactly what I would do: SNIP

FAIRFIELD, IOWA — I was standing outside my childhood home on an unseasonably warm spring day when I saw my neighbor approaching from across the street.

It was May, and I had been staying with my parents months after escaping New York City. In their home, more than 80 miles away from the nearest airport, the threat of a pandemic felt distant.

But to our neighbor, Lewis Weiss, the real danger was lurking inside our house, radiating through every room — our wireless internet, or wifi.

“It’s poison,” Weiss told my parents, who were listening through the kitchen window.

Standing in our front yard, Weiss said he was picking up our wifi signal in his house and it was harmful. He offered us a few suggestions: switch to ethernet, sheath our router with a product called SignalTamer, or turn our wifi off at night.

“Frankly, this is ridiculous,” I said from the porch. “We’re not doing that.”

But such requests are actually not seen as ridiculous in Fairfield.

In fact, Weiss is among at least 1,000 or so people in this town of roughly 10,000 who believe the radiofrequency (RF) radiation emitted by routers and all kinds of other devices is harmful to human health.

And those beliefs don’t just irritate wifi-addicted New Yorkers. They’ve rubbed up against an adversary of enormous scale: A $12 billion utility that began deploying smart meters in 2017 that communicate using radio waves.

Over the last two years, Fairfield residents fought the utility for the right to keep their simple analog meters, in lieu of the smart ones. And for the most part, they won, forcing the utility to change its plans.

For the power company, smart meters are the future, offering big savings and granular info about energy use. For some residents of my hometown, they pose an unacceptable health risk.

But the fight against them was about something much bigger: protecting a way of life and the freedom to exercise a set of beliefs that big corporations and advancing technologies put at risk.
