Are Smart Meters in the Same Category as Flint, Michigan’s Leaded Water? Deliberate Crimes Against Humanity

In the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, area there’s a tremendous show of support and solidarity for the people of Flint, Michigan, being forced to drink tap water that was contained with lead (Pb) for a year, perhaps more. Several Philadelphians have taken it upon themselves to conduct bottled water campaigns, which netted thousands of bottles of water. They even drove a truckload of bottled water to Flint, and then delivered it door-to-door. That’s how the City of Brotherly Love, Philadelphia, shows its concern for others!

That concern has not stopped with ordinary citizens. Philadelphia leaders also got involved and showed their support. [1] PA State Representative Vanessa Lowery Brown is on record as saying, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” recalling the words of Dr Martin Luther King Jr.

44 Reasons To Believe Cell Phones Can Cause Cancer

Global Research, February 27, 2016
Electric Sense 10 November 2014

Cell phones emit microwave radio-frequency radiation. Fact.

This radiation has the ability to penetrate our bodies. Fact.

Our governments do virtually nothing to protect us from these dangers. Fact.

And yet there is strong evidence, multiple peer reviewed studies, to indicate that cell phones cause cancer and other diseases.

Take a look for yourself at these facts.

But first let’s just consider what cancer is.

Cancer And DNA

The National Cancer Institute  says,

“Cancer is a term used for diseases in which abnormal cells divide without control and are able to invade other tissues…..all cancers begin in cells……cells grow and divide in a controlled way to produce more cells as they are needed to keep the body healthy. When cells become old or damaged, they die and are replaced with new cells. However, sometimes this orderly process goes wrong. The genetic material (DNA) of a cell can become damaged or changed, producing mutations that affect normal cell growth and division. When this happens, cells do not die when they should and new cells form when the body does not need them.”

So cancer typically involves abnormal cell division and DNA damage and in some cases cells may form a mass of tissue called a tumor.

Types Of Brain Tumor

In the studies done to date cell phone radiation exposures are principally linked to two types of brain tumor, gliomas and acoustic neuromas.

Gliomas, a type of tumor that starts in the brain or spine are typically malignant. Gliomas are particularly deadly. Most people survive only 1 to 3 years after diagnosis.

Acoustic neuromas though non-malignant (low-grade cancer), are in many cases life threatening given that they are an intracranial tumor.

The 44 Reasons

1. Cellular Damage: Telecoms giant T-Mobile in Germany commissioned an independent study to review all relevant research on the health risks from wireless telecommunications. It was concluded that,

On the cellular level, a multitude of studies found the type of damage from high frequency electromagnetic fields which is important for cancer initiation and cancer promotion.

Brain Tumors And Brain Cancers

2. Significantly Increased Risk of Glioma:  Gliomas are becoming increasingly common. The $25 million Interphone Study found that:

“regular use of a cell phone by adults can significantly increase the risk of gliomas by 40% with 1640 hours or more of use (this is about one half hour per day over ten years).”

Source: Table 2 INTERPHONE Study Group. Brain tumour risk in relation to mobile telephone use: results of the INTERPHONE international case-control study. Int J Epidemiol (2010); 39(3):675-694.

3. Tumor Risk on Cell Phone Side of Head: Again from the Interphone Study – currently the big daddy of cell phone radiation studies it being the largest and longest study on the link between cell phones and brain tumors – it also found, “tumors were more likely to occur on the side of the head most used for calling”.

4. Harmful Association Between Cell Phone Radiation and Tumors: A review of 23 epidemiological studies by 7 scientists on the link between cell phones and cancer concluded, “harmful association“. One of the reports authors commenting the study results said, “although as a whole the data varied, among the 10 higher quality studies, we found a harmful association between phone use and tumor risk. The lower quality studies, which failed to meet scientific best practices, were primarily industry funded.”

5. Increased Risk For Glioma and Acoustic Neuroma: the studies performed by the Hardell Research Group are widely regarded as being amongst the best. This recent study finds, “A consistent pattern of increased risk for glioma and acoustic neuroma associated with use of wireless phones.” These findings are consistent with their earlier studies.

6. Temporal Lobe & Glioma Risk: A recent French study found evidence of an increased risk of glioma and temporal lobe tumors. The study found that, “risks were higher for gliomas, temporal tumours, occupational and urban mobile phone use. “. According to EMF watchdog Powerwatch this is an important paper, “that confirms existing studies and which should help move the IARC RF evaluation strongly towards a Group 2A – ‘probable human carcinogen’“.

7. Increased Risk of Acoustic Neuroma in Long-Term Users of Cell Phones: A recent study on 790,000 middle aged women in the UK found that, “women who used cell phones for ten or more years were two-and- a-half times more likely to develop an acoustic neuroma. Their risk of acoustic neuroma increased with the number of years they used cell phones.

8. Increased Risk of Acoustic Neuroma: Research conducted by Lonn suggests, “an increased risk of acoustic neuroma associated with mobile phone use of at least 10 years’ duration.”

9. Brain Tumor Risk is Higher on ‘Cell Phone’ Side of Head:  A research paper that reviewed 11 studies found, “a link between prolonged cell phone usage and the development of an ipsilateral [same side of head as cell phone] brain tumor”.

10. Meningioma: This Swedish study looked at adult brain tumor cases diagnosed over a two year period. Although the study concluded that, “no conclusive evidence of an association between use of mobile and cordless phones and meningioma was found“. The studies authors did say, “an indication of increased risk was seen in the group with highest cumulative use“.

11. Malignant Brain Tumors: Recent work by Hardell looked at long-term use of mobile and cordless phones. In conclusion it was found that, “this study confirmed previous results of an association between mobile and cordless phone use and malignant brain tumours. These findings provide support for the hypothesis that RF-EMFs play a role both in the initiation and promotion stages of carcinogenesis“.

Other Cancers And Tumors

12. Cancer of the Pituitary Gland: The pituitary gland, considered by many to be the “master gland” of the body, is a pea sized organ located in the middle of the base of the brain that produces hormones that play a major role in regulating vital body functions and general well-being. This study (already referenced above) also found that,

the risk of cancer of the pituitary gland more was more than twice as high among women who used a cell phone for less than five years as compared to never users“.

13. Thyroid Cancer: The thyroid gland is situated in the neck. Using a cell phone against your ear exposes your thyroid to cell phone radiation. A recent Israeli study observing that, “the incidence of thyroid cancer has been on the rise in Israel for more than a decade which matches the rise in the use of cellphones” collected human thyroid cells from healthy patients and subjected them to radiation. The study found, “evidence of changes in thyroid cells in response to electromagnetic radiation”.

14. Melanoma Risk: Melanoma is a cancer that starts in a certain type of skin cell. A Swedish study found “a very clear association between increasing use of mobile phones and increasing rates of head melanoma [ ] in Nordic countries“.

15. Stem Cell Cancer: In a controversial US study on 29 cases of neuroepithelial tumors, cell phone users accounted for 11 of them. These initial results indicated a near tripling in the risk of neuroepithelial tumors through cell phone use. The published results were revised to reflect a doubling of risk and then reported as not ‘statistically significant’.

16. Oral Cancer: An Israeli study on 460 cases of parotid gland tumors found, “based on the largest number of benign PGT patients reported to date, our results suggest an association between cellular phone use and PGTs [parotid gland tumors].” The parotid is the salivary gland near the cheek where many users hold their cell phone.

17. Parotid Malignant Tumors: Another Israeli study analyzed deaths as recorded on the National Cancer Registry over a 36 year period found, “the total number of parotid gland cancers in Israel increased 4-fold from 1970 to 2006 , whereas other major salivary gland cancers remained stable“.

18. Leukaemia: A comprehensive review of over a dozen studies including studies on exposures from cell tower radiation, TV and Radio broadcast towers concluded, “cancer, especially brain tumour and leukaemia, but all other cancers also“.

19. Lymph Node Cancer: In an Australian study one hundred mice were exposed to RF radiation for two 30-minute periods per day for up to 18 months. The authors called the increased incidence of lymphoma “highly significant”. They added that “it is very unlikely that the faster onset of cancer was due to chance“.

20. Multifocal Breast Cancer: American researchers studied four young women with breast cancer. They found that, “all patients regularly carried their smartphones directly against their breasts in their brassieres for up to 10 hours a day, for several years, and developed tumors in areas of their breasts immediately underlying the phones“.

21. Eye Cancer: A German Study has established a link between uveal melanoma and cell phone radiation and similar exposures. The study “found an elevated risk for exposure to radiofrequency-transmitting devices“.  Another study found ocular symptoms and sensations in long term users of mobile phones.

22. Diverse Cancerous Tumors: A Brazilian Study established a direct link between various cancer deaths such as tumors in the prostate, breast, lung, kidneys and liver in Brazil’s third largest city, and cell phone tower radiation exposures. The study found that, “more than 81 percent of people who die in Belo Horizonte by specific types of cancer live less than 500 meters away from the 300 identified cell phone antennas in the city“.

This same study also lists more than a dozen other research papers that have found a link between different cancers and cell phone/cell tower radiation exposures.

Cell Phone Subscriptions And Brain Tumors

23. Cell Phone Subscription Link to Brain Tumors: A U.S. study analyzed the number of cell phone subscriptions and brain tumors in nineteen US states, they concluded,

the very linear relationship between cell phone usage and brain tumor incidence is disturbing and certainly needs further epidemiological evaluation.

24. Brain Cancer Incidence Increases Over Time (U.S): another U.S. study of brain cancer incidence trends in relation to cell phone use in the United States found, “there was a statistically significant increasing trend between 1992 and 2006 among females but not among males. The recent trend in 20–29-year-old women was driven by a rising incidence of frontal lobe cancers“.

25. Brain Cancer Incidence Increases Over Time (Europe): Studies carried out in Norway, Finland and the U.K. have identified a similar trend of an increase in the incidence of brain cancer over time. In the UK study the incidence of malignant brain tumors close to where you hold your phone was highlighted.

Other Effects On the Brain

26. Blood-Brain Barrier (BBB) Permeability: The BBB is a membrane which prevents toxic materials from the blood from entering the brain. It was first discovered in 1975 that RF radiation causes the BBB to leak, since then at least a dozen laboratories around the world have corroborated this effect. There’s no consensus on the link between BBB damage and cancer but some studies elude to this.

27. Brain Cell Loss: A Turkish study on adult female rats that were exposed to a 900 MHz electromagnetic field found that, “EMF exposure caused a significant decrease of the…….cell number…… additionally, cell loss can be seen……“. In their conclusions the researchers drew parallels between these exposures and teenagers’ brains that are exposed to cell phone radiation.

28. Brain Activity: Researchers in China exposed 18 participants to RF radiation (LTE) for 30 minutes which was well within international (ICNIRP) cell phone legal limits. They concluded that, “30min LTE RF-EMF exposure modulated the spontaneous low frequency fluctuations in some brain regions.

29. Brain Blood Flow Affected: This Finnish brain imaging study found that “that the EMF emitted by a commercial mobile phone affects rCBF  [regional cerebral blood flow]  in humans“. This suggests that cell phone radiation affects neuronal activity.

30. Texting Affects Memory:  An Australian study on young adolescents found “students who reported making or receiving more voice or SMS calls per week, and in particular more of both, demonstrated shorter response times on learning tasks, but less accurate working memory”.

DNA Damage

One way cancer and other diseases are believed to develop is when the DNA (genetic information) in a cell becomes damaged. This damage mutates the DNA.  There are many studies linking cell phone radiation exposures to different types of DNA damage.

31. Single and Double-Strand DNA Breaks: In pioneering work a University of Washington team found DNA single strand breaks from RF radiation exposures on rats in an initial study. A subsequent study found single and double-strand DNA breaks.

32. Various Genetic Effects: An Austrian study analyzed the results of 101 different published articles on the effects of radio frequency EMFs on DNA. The study concluded that, “there is ample evidence that RF-EMF can alter the genetic material of exposed cells“.

33. Increased Rates of Micronuclei: Micronuclei proliferation indicates a type of DNA damage strongly associated with cancer.A Brazilian study found that, “electromagnetic field irradiation [low level cell phone type exposures] during pregnancy leads to an increase in erythrocytes micronuclei incidence in rat offspring“.  Several studies have found increased rates of micronuclei in the body following exposures to RF radiation.

34. Heat Shock Proteins (HSPs) Production Decreased: A U.S. study exposed chick embryo’s to RF radiation. They concluded that, “this EMF-induced decrease in HSP70 levels and resulting decline in cytoprotection suggests a mechanism by which daily exposure (such as might be experienced by mobile phone users) could enhance the probability of cancer and other diseases“.

35. Oxidative DNA Damage: the Guler study in Turkey exposed female and male infant rabbits to 1800 MHz radio frequency radiation and found, “GSM-like RF radiation may induce biochemical changes by increasing free radical attacks to structural biomolecules.”  Free radical damage is associated with the development of cancer.

36. DNA Strand Breaks: this Austrian study exposed human and rat cells to mobile phone radiation and found, “DNA single- and double-strand breaks”.

37. Changes in Gene Expression: the Belyaev study found that, exposing the “rat brain to 915 MHz GSM microwaves induces changes in gene expression”. Other studies suggest that, “subtle changes of gene expression associated with [disease]”.

38. Genotoxic Effects: the Schwarz study exposed human cells to 1,950 MHz UMTS. It concluded that “UMTS exposure may cause genetic alterations in some but not in all human cells in vitro.”

39. Neurotransmitters Impacted: this Bavarian study followed 60 people over one and a half years following the installation of a new cell phone base station in their village. The study concluded that, “the effects showed a dose-response relationship“, that it had “occurred well below current limits for technical RF radiation exposures” and that these effects have “great relevance for health and [are] well known to damage human health in the long run“. In other words the more people were exposed to cell phone type radiation the bigger the impact on their health.

40. Chromosome Damage: a Belgian study reviewed 16 expert gene monitoring studies from around the world. In 13 of the 16 independent studies performed worldwide it was found that, “RF-exposed individuals have increased frequencies of genetic damage (e.g., chromosomal aberrations)“.

41. Central Nervous System: US based researcher Dr. Henry Lai comments that there are several studies which show that repeated RF exposure at relatively low power caused morphological changes in the central nervous system, “changes in morphology, especially cell death, could have an important implication on health. Injury-induced cell proliferation has been hypothesized as a cause of cancer.

Reading Between The Lines

The studies don’t tell all of the story. Here are some other things you need to know.

42. Latency Period Before Diagnosis: To put this in the words of researcher Dr. Martin Blank “cancers do not form overnight”. In almost all cases cancerous tumors take many years to form and metastasize” Dr. Martin Blank: Overpowered. This would suggest that we might be sitting on a cell phone radiation cancer time bomb.

43. Cell Phone Radiation Cancer Time Bomb: To give a sense to what this latency period could mean in terms of the incidence of brain tumors in the years to come, researcher Lloyd Morgan produced this alarming graphic showing that brain tumor cases could reach epidemic proportions within the next decade:

44. Flawed Research: Not all of the research points to a link between cell phone radiation and cancer. But then that’s hardly surprising given the lengths some researchers go to, to skew the results. This research paper also lays bare the phenomenon of study bias. This can take many different shapes and forms; insufficient latency time, incorrect definition of “regular” cellphone user, cell phones radiating higher power levels in rural areas not investigated, exposure to other transmitting sources not considered, exclusion of brain tumor cases due to death or illness, etc.

The Tip Of The Iceberg

There is lot of interest surrounding the link between cell phone radiation and cancer. But cancer is only the tip of the iceberg.

Microwave radio-frequency radiation exposures of the type emitted by cell phones are also linked to many other diseases and potentially life threatening illnesses, including:

  • sperm damage & male infertility
  • miscarriages
  • vaginal discharge
  • vascular system disease
  • tinnitus
  • childhood cancer
  • sleep problems
  • depression
  • irritability
  • memory loss
  • concentration difficulties
  • headaches
  • dizziness and fatigue
  • suicidal tendencies
  • arrhythmia
  • heart attacks
  • bone marrow interference
  • altered calcium level in cells
  • ADHD
  • reduction in night-time melatonin
  • suppression of the immune system
  • arthritis
  • rheumatism
  • skin symptoms
  • lymphatic diseases
  • autism
  • hearing problems

EMFs Promote Cancer in Massive Animal Study

EMFs Promote Cancer in Massive Animal Study

Italians Seek “Reevaluation” of EMF Safety

Once again, power-frequency magnetic fields have been found to act as a cancer promoter.

Eighteen months ago an international team led by Elisabeth Cardis in Spain showed cancer promotion in workers exposed to chemicals and extremely low frequency (ELF) EMFs. Now an Italian team has found essentially the same promotional effect in animals exposed to ionizing radiation and ELF EMFs.

Rats, which received a single low-dose of gamma radiation early in life and were exposed to magnetic fields for their entire lifetime, developed higher than expected rates of three different types of cancer: Breast cancer and leukemia/lymphoma, as well as an extremely rare and obscure tumor, called malignant schwannoma of the heart.

The new study, which was carried out at the Ramazzini Institute in Bologna, Italy, is part of the most ambitious EMF animal project ever attempted.

Marysville residents raise concerns over smart meters

Marysville residents raise concerns over smart meters

<!– View and purchase photos –>

Last December, DTE began installing smart meters at 90,000 businesses and homes in Algonac, Fort Gratiot Township, Marine City, Marysville, Port Huron and St. Clair.

While the installations generally appear to have gone smoothly, two Marysville residents raised concerns about the program.

At the end of February, the Marysville City Council, using House Bill 4916 as a model, passed a resolution urging Attorney General Bill Schuette, the Committee on Energy Policy and the Michigan Public Service Commission to investigate the concerns.

The resolution notes that several residents have expressed concern “that smart meters are overly intrusive into their energy usage” and that some “customers have alleged that emissions from smart meters are actually dangerous to their health.”

“The Marysville Council supports the ability of its DTE customers to opt out of the smart meter program on their homes without suffering financial penalties or incurring monthly charges and to also have the choice to retain their analog meter without penalty,” the resolution states.

But that portion of the resolution differs from DTE’s opt-out policy on its website: “The customer of record must call our Customer Service line at (800) 477-4747. The program provides you with the option to have a non-transmitting advanced meter. Customers who enroll in the Opt Out program are required to pay the following fees for each site enrolled in the program: $67.20 initial one-time fee to install a non-transmitting AMI meter; (and a) $9.80 monthly charge.”

Resident Robert Knapp and his daughter Jean Chapdelaine complained to the council on Jan. 11 about the installation of smart meters on their street, which had begun in December.

Chapdelaine told council members that many of their neighbors did not want the smart meters, some because they feared for their health.

When she approached the installer, he told Chapdelaine that he had to knock on every door and ask people if they wanted a smart meter; if no one answered, he could install the meters.

“It was considered an automatic yes,” said Chapdelaine. She walked from house to house with the installer. If the residents were not home, she answered for them, saying “No,” the same response she gave him for her house. The installer gave up and left.

“The following week, they came to my street unannounced,” Chapdelaine said. “I was not there. My son was there. They did not ring the doorbell to say they were there or what they were doing. The tag they put on my door stated they were there, but not what they did. And now I have a new smart meter, which I do not want. I called Detroit Edison and they proceeded to tell me that if I didn’t want the smart meter, I was going to be without power because I wasn’t going to get the analog meter back.”

Chapdelaine referred fellow residents to The website accuses DTE’s smart meters of threatening the privacy of residents by prying into their power usage patterns, their health by emitting low levels of radiation and interfering with medical devices and their pocketbooks by charging higher rates for times of individual peak usage, among other things.

The council passed the resolution 6-0 at its regular meeting on Feb. 22. Council member Paul Wessel was absent.

DTE claims the meter will allow residents to find out how much energy they’re using on a daily, even hourly, basis, as well as help the company pinpoint power outages and reduce their duration. The company also claims the meters allow billing to be based on actual usage as opposed to estimated usage and increase the privacy of residents by keeping meter readers out of their yards and businesses.

Mayor Dan Damman read the resolution aloud and asked Chapdelaine if she approved of it.

“This is excellent,” Chapdelaine said. “Thank you.”

“See?” said Damman. “We do listen.”

Hearing ordered in 2nd customer complaint about Peco smart meters

EXCEPT: Diane Van Schoyck said the couple has experienced a buzzing noise and difficulty sleeping since the meter was installed last year. She also said the signal from WPST, a Trenton Top 40 radio station, is audible in her electrical outlets and from the refrigerator.

For the second time in a month, the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission ordered Thursday a hearing on a customer complaint that a Peco Energy Co. smart meter is responsible for a health problem.

By a 4-1 vote, the PUC rejected an administrative law judge’s recommendation to dismiss the complaint of Stephen and Diane Van Schoyck of Langhorne and sent the case back for a hearing on the couple’s assertion that they have experienced health problems and difficulty sleeping since Peco installed a smart meter in 2015.

Until last month, when the PUC allowed a Germantown customer’s case to proceed, it had rejected a number of smart-meter complaints on the grounds that utilities were complying with Act 129, a 2008 energy-conservation law ordering all Pennsylvania utilities to deploy the digital devices. The law doesn’t allow customers to opt out.

“The commission lacks the authority to compel Peco to remove the smart meter and allow the use of an analog meter, as the complainants seek,” said Commissioner Pamela Witmer, the lone dissenter in both cases.

But the PUC’s majority said the agency is duty bound to hear evidence the meters may violate the utility’s legal obligation to provide safe service. The PUC said that its ruling was narrow, and that the Van Schoycks will have the burden to prove Peco is responsible.

“Holding a hearing to address the complainants’ factual averments regarding these specific health effects will enable us to closely evaluate their claims based on a fully developed record,” it said.

Peco and other utilities say smart meters, which maintain that two-way wireless communication, are safe. “Scientific studies have not demonstrated that the use of this technology causes adverse health effects,” said Cathy Engel Menendez, Peco’s spokeswoman.

Peco has spent $733 million to install 1.7 million meters, including a wireless communications network linking the devices.

Diane Van Schoyck said the couple has experienced a buzzing noise and difficulty sleeping since the meter was installed last year. She also said the signal from WPST, a Trenton Top 40 radio station, is audible in her electrical outlets and from the refrigerator.

“It’s wrecking my life,” she said Thursday. “I can’t wait to get this meter off my house.”

Malignant brain tumors most common cause of cancer deaths in adolescents and young adults
Press Release, American Brain Tumor Association, Feb 24, 2016

Chicago, Ill., Feb. 24, 2016 – A new report published in the journal Neuro-Oncology and funded by the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA) finds that malignant brain tumors are the most common cause of cancer-related deaths in adolescents and young adults aged 15-39 and the most common cancer occurring among 15-19 year olds.
The 50-page report, which utilized data from the Central Brain Tumor Registry of the United States (CBTRUS) from 2008-2012, is the first in-depth statistical analysis of brain and central nervous system (CNS) tumors in adolescents and young adults (AYA). Statistics are provided on tumor type, tumor location and age group (15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34 and 35-39) for both malignant and non-malignant brain and CNS tumors.
“When analyzing data in 5-year age increments, researchers discovered that the adolescent and young adult population is not one group but rather several distinct groups that are impacted by very different tumor types as they move into adulthood,” said Elizabeth Wilson, president and CEO of the American Brain Tumor Association.
“For these individuals — who are finishing school, pursuing their careers and starting and raising young families — a brain tumor diagnosis is especially cruel and disruptive,” added Wilson. “This report enables us for the first time to zero-in on the types of tumors occurring at key intervals over a 25-year time span to help guide critical research investments and strategies for living with a brain tumor that reflect the patient’s unique needs.”
Although brain and CNS tumors are the most common type of cancer among people aged 15-19, the report shows how other cancers become more common with age. By ages 34-39 years, brain and CNS tumors are the third most common cancer after breast and thyroid cancer.
“What’s interesting is the wide variability in the types of brain tumors diagnosed within this age group which paints a much different picture than what we see in adults or in pediatric patients,” explained the study’s senior author Jill Barnholtz-Sloan, Ph.D., associate professor, Case Comprehensive Cancer Center, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and Scientific Principal Investigator for CBTRUS.
“For example, the most common tumor types observed in adults are meningiomas and glioblastomas, but there is much more diversity in the common tumor types observed in the adolescent and young adult population. You also clearly see a transition from predominantly non-malignant and low-grade tumors to predominantly high-grade tumors with increasing age,” Barnholtz-Sloan said.
There are nearly 700,000 people in the U.S. living with brain and CNS tumors and approximately 15 percent of these tumors occurred in the AYA population during the 2008-2012 time frame analyzed in this report. Approximately 10,617 brain and CNS tumors are diagnosed among adolescents and young adults each year and are the cause of approximately 434 deaths annually.
“The American Brain Tumor Association’s recognition of this understudied population, and their commitment to data and information sharing should be applauded,” added Barnholtz-Sloan. “There are clearly unique characteristics of the 15-39 age group that we need to more comprehensively understand and the information in the ABTA report starts that important dialogue.”

No Abstract.

Malignant brain and CNS are the 11th most common cancer and the 3rd most common cause of cancer death.

Approximately 10,600 brain and CNS tumors are diagnosed in AYA per year, and they are the cause of approximately 450 deaths annually in this age group.

Overall, the largest proportion of malignant tumors in those age 15-39 years occur in the frontal lobe (28.8%), followed by other brain (15.4%). Together, 50.2% of all malignant tumors occur in the frontal, temporal, parietal, and occipital lobes of the brain.

Tumors of the frontal lobe are the most common in persons age 20-39 years.

Overall, the largest proportion of non-malignant tumors occurs in the pituitary gland and craniopharyngeal duct (46.1%).

The incidence of tumors in the pituitary gland and craniopharyngeal duct decrease with age whereas incidence of those found in the meninges increase with age.

Overall, the incidence of primary brain and CNS tumors in females (12.24 per 100,000 population) is higher than those in males (8.64 per 100,000 population) in AYA.

Brain Tumor Statistics

Brain Tumors do not discriminate. Primary brain tumors – those that begin in the brain and tend to stay in the brain – occur in people of all ages, but they are statistically more frequent in children and older adults. Metastatic brain tumors – those that begin as a cancer elsewhere in the body and spread to the brain – are more common in adults than children.
The facts and statistics here include brain and central nervous system tumors (including spinal cord, pituitary and pineal gland tumors). We continually update these statistics, as they become available. This material was last updated in December 2015. We thank the Central Brain Tumor Registry of the United States (CBTRUS) for their assistance. These numbers address incidence, trends and patterns in the United States only. For more information, please visit CBTRUS at tumors are the:

  • most common cancer among those age 0-19 (leukemia is the second).
  • second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in children (males and females) under age 20 (leukemia is the first).

Brain Tumor Statistics:

  • Nearly 78,000 new cases of primary brain tumors are expected to be diagnosed this year. This figure includes nearly 25,000 primary malignant and 53,000 non-malignant brain tumors.
  • It is estimated that more than 4,600 children between the ages of 0-19 will be diagnosed with a primary brain tumor this year.
  • There are nearly 700,000 people in the U.S. living with a primary brain and central nervous system tumor.
  • This year, nearly 17,000 people will lose their battle with a primary malignant and central nervous system brain tumor.
  • There are more than 100 histologically distinct types of primary brain and central nervous system tumors.
  • Survival after diagnosis with a primary brain tumor varies significantly by age, histology, molecular markers and tumor behavior.
  • The median age at diagnosis for all primary brain tumors is 59 years.

Tumor-Specific Statistics:

  • Meningiomas represent 36.4% of all primary brain tumors, making them the most common primary brain tumor.  There will be an estimated 24,880 new cases in 2016.
  • Gliomas, a broad term which includes all tumors arising from the gluey or supportive tissue of the brain, represent 27% of all brain tumors and 80% of all malignant tumors.
  • Glioblastomas represent 15.1% of all primary brain tumors, and 55.1% of all gliomas.
  • Glioblastoma has the highest number of cases of all malignant tumors, with an estimated 12,120 new cases predicted in 2016.
  • Astrocytomas, including glioblastoma, represent approximately 75% of all gliomas.
  • Nerve sheath tumors (such as acoustic neuromas) represent about 8% of all primary brain tumors.
  • Pituitary tumors represent 15.5% of all primary brain tumors. There will be an estimated 11,700 new cases of pituitary tumors in 2016.
  • Lymphomas represent 2% of all primary brain tumors.
  • Oligodendrogliomas represent nearly 2% of all primary brain tumors.
  • Medulloblastomas/embryonal/primitive tumors represent 1% of all primary brain tumors.
  • The majority of primary tumors (36.4%) are located within the meninges.

Letter from Cindy Sage and Josefina Cobb to FOX News about Coverage of WiFi Health Issues

Congratulations to Fox 5 News.

It is one of the best pieces yet done on the subject of wireless health risks to school children, and statements about potential risks are based in the science and the epidemiology we have to date.  High journalistic quality, investigative depth and balanced reporting.  If anything, it doesn’t go far enough to warn of the risks, based on what health agencies and independent experts already know.

The current federal public safety standards for RF are grossly inadequate and undergoing an update at the FCC.  The existing ‘safety’ standards are decades old, and never envisioned WiFi, nor realistically took into account the evolution of chronic exposure to low intensity pulsed radiofrequency radiation.  The existing standards are developed by the industry’s professional group, the IEEE.  Then, the FCC (claiming no health expertise) simply adopts what the IEEE standards committee recommends.  The conflicts of interest are vast.  And, the IEEE expertise is engineering, not health sciences.

The 20-year old standards have everything to do with WiFi.  Any pulsed RF down to the nanowatt/cm2 level is being reported by credentialed teams of researchers, including epidemiologists with excellent exposure assessment by engineering experts to cause health impacts – where you have chronic (persistent, prolonged) exposures.

Basic fact checking will reveal to naysayers that the WHO IARC has determined that ANY exposure to RF is classifiable as a Possible Human Carcinogen.  The IARC Working Group of international scientific experts who voted this classification included the best array of experts in the world, and that group included experts on public health standards, published epidemiological, in vivo, and in vitro studies.

To all those who were part of the Fox coverage of Wi-fi in the Montgomery School District,

I would like to thank you for the excellent newscast about wi-fi in the Montgomery School District and the interview with Nobel Prize Awardee, Dr. Devra Davis. It’s inspiring to learn of a group of parents and journalists who truly care, amidst a majority who would not touch the issue with a ten-foot pole, I hope, not because they love their technology more than they care about people.

While some countries see to it that their citizens are informed about the health risks and hazards of wireless technologies, the American public, in general, seems oblivious to the gravity of the situation. While most schools would surely not allow spraying DDT in the classrooms, or use lead paint, we are seeing a big push for wi-fi, whose non-ionizing radiation was classified by the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer as a possible Type 2B carcinogen, in the same class as lead and DDT. Why this glaring disconnect? There’s an abundance of research studies on the biological effects of microwave radiation, warnings from medical doctors, and the stories of those who have either died or suffered greatly as a result of overexposure to RF radiation.

May your courage and honesty inspire others to put public safety first, before money, technology, and convenience.

Ontario Bill 161- Elimination of Ground Current Pollution

Thanks to all of you who attended the reading of the Elimination of Ground Current Pollution (Bill 161) presented to the Legislative Assembly by Rick Nicholls,  PC Critic for Community Safety.  Thanks also to those who contacted their local MPPs.

Bill 161 passed its second reading with unanimous support from all three parties.

Several MPPs from all three parties addressed this Bill.  Many were in the House 10 years ago, when Maria Van Bommel presented a similar Bill.  They asked why little to nothing had been done regarding this serious problem.

Rick did an excellent job.  His presentation is provided below.  About 30 plus farmers came from different parts of Ontario.  “Ontario Farmer” covered the passing of this Bill so wait for the next issue.

Lee Montgomery attended the reading as he did 10 years ago.   It is now 44 years that he has been fighting this injustice.  One tough little guy who just doesn’t know how to call it quits.  He has been an inspiration to many of us who want the government to do the right thing and put current back onto the wire where it belongs.

The speeches from MPPs were inspiring and many commented on the importance of farming and the farm family in Ontario.  You should be able to view this debate tomorrow, Feb 19  (check your local TV listing).

It has been a long, very long, uphill battle and the battle is far from over.  The Bill now goes to Committee and it will depend on the government as to how quickly Bill 161 will be dealt with.

I do believe this government is committed to doing the right thing but they will be met with opposition from Hydro One and the other electricity providers.  The solution to the ground current problem, if generated off farm, will be expensive.  Distribution poles and especially the neutral conductor need to be updated in areas where load exceeds capacity of the neutral to return the current to source.

The government has two years to determine how to implement Bill 161 and that implementation has to be completed within 10 years.  Hopefully some of the more severely affected regions of Ontario will get immediate attention so that livestock and farmers need no longer suffer the consequence of ground current pollution.

Once again a hardy thanks to all of you for your interest and your help.  A special thanks to Rick Nicholls who has been working on this issue for the past 4 years.  We need more MPPs like Rick, who are working to make Ontario a healthier place to live.

Reference: “.  Distribution poles and especially the neutral conductor need to be updated in areas where load exceeds capacity of the neutral to return the current to source.”

The above is an incorrect statement and is not the source of the problem nor is it the solution to the problem.

The problem:  The problem is the multi-grounded neutral system which has the neutral return current conductor connected to the earth at least four times per mile and at every pole mounted transformer placing the earth in parallel with the neutral conductor.  This allows the neutral return current to take all paths:  return neutral current returning on the neutral conductor and returning over the earth also as the earth is an electrical conductor.  The earth and the return neutral conductor are parallel electrical paths and each can transmit the return neutral current back to the source substation transformer and in doing so can harm animals, that is, humans and dairy cows and pigs.

The solution:  Leave the present neutral conductor and the multi-connections of the neutral to earth in place and referred to it as the electrical safety conductor (the green wire or third pole of the receptacle just like what is used in your home, commercial and industrial facilities) which will allow fault current from a live phase conductor that falls to the earth to return the short circuit current directly back to the substation transformer allowing the protective device to operate and when the protective device operates the fault current will stop flowing.

Install a new neutral return conductor that is connected only to the pole mounted (or pad mounted or underground) transformers’ neutral bushing.  The phase conductor is connected to the other bushing of the pole mounted transformer as it is presently; this new neutral conductor will allow ALL the neutral return current to flow unimpeded without using the earth back to the source substation transformer.  With all of the return neutral current contained in a neutral conductor insulated and isolated from earth, there will be no stray voltage (incorrect term) or stray current (correct term) flowing over the earth to harm any animal; human, dairy cows, pigs.

Thank you Donald W.  Zipse,

We are pleased with your pertinent and explanatory advisement and with the forensic observation with regards to the multiground situation in North America and in the proposed solution, especially where it appertains to primary distribution in the rural setting.

This advice concurs with our nationwide findings for the multi-year Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC)  research study on electromagnetic fields in Canadian housing in the 1990s, which involved several dozen multi-disciplinary experts from around the globe – scientists, engineers and other professionals.

The Ontario Legislative Assembly bill should take such advice seriously, as we also continue to observe nefarious situations / and remediation in our surveys.

Urgent Response Needed

A good reporter could lose her job here… due to organized telecom mafia responses…please weigh in…

In response to the independent investigative program Catalyst that aired a feature detailing growing scientific concerns about wi-fi and mobile phones, telecom industry sponsored scientists have submitted a flurry of dismissive comments that endanger the capacity of the press to report on such matters.  Currently, responses are overwhelmingly negative to this program.  These negative responses need to be objected to in the strongest possible terms by those who can provide links to scientific studies that refute those positions.

basically these need to go to the program website, fb page, Sydney Morning Herald and another site..

Sometimes Asking Questions Provides You With Answers That May Be Uncomfortable

Reporter Dr Maryanne Demasi fights back against the critics.

I just posted  the following to the ABC website:

With the well coordinated attack on the Catalyst program Wi-Fried, masterminded by the ‘hidden hand’ of the Australian Science Media Centre (AusSMC), it comes with no surprise that the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA) is one of their supporters. The Science Media Centre (SMC) model of ‘science communication’, now established in an increasing number of countries, including Australia – all work under a “unified charter”. Necessary reading here is “Science Media Centre” by SourceWatch. Its called spin…..

Also see my blog posting and click on the Sourcewatch link. Interesting reading.

Cellular Meters – a new danger

BC Hydro just announced plans to remove 88,000 meters suspected of failure.

People need to know that ITRON, and I suspect the other companies are removing those 88,000 smart meters, but many are being replaced with the new cellular meters that are communicating via 4G LTE transmitters, straight to cell towers, skipping the collectors.

These are using licensed frequencies, thereby making our homes federally regulated sites (how is this allowed?).

Smart meters can cause health problems

After the installation of the Smart Meter she started experiencing more frequent and intense migraines. Finally, in 2013 I started keeping accurate track of her migraines – 55 in 2013 (up to nine in one month), 47 in 2014 (up to six in one month) and 13 in the first four months of 2015 (up to six in one month). We had the Smart Meter removed on May 6, 2015. Since then she experiences about one migraine a month — back to her experience before the Smart Meter was installed in 2010.

Electro Hyper Sensitive teacher to be fired for insubordination

Two years ago, McDonald, who has taught in North Kingstown for eight years, had advocated to halt Wi-Fi installation in the district’s schools, offering studies, testimony and literature relating to the alleged dangers of Wi-Fi to humans.

Following Tuesday’s meeting, McDonald, who was diagnosed with Electromagnetic Hypersensitivity Syndrome, said she began having problems around 18 months ago, experiencing sinus pressure and pain that turns into migraines, at times. When she is in areas with Wi-Fi, she finds it difficult to think, McDonald said, among other issues.

“It slows down my thinking,” she said. “It makes me confused and dizzy.”

French consumers, town halls resist ERDF smart meters

French power grid ERDF, an EDF subsidiary, is facing opposition to its Linky smart meter project, reports Le Figaro. The project calls for all 35 million of the country’s electricity meters to be replaced by 2021 at a cost of EUR 5 billion. Some opponents are concerned that remote readings will result in higher bills, others worry about privacy, and yet others fear negative health consequences of electromagnetic emissions–1128160

ES Radio Interviews

ES-UK has been contacted to help source a possible list of interviewees for a short radio interview in each British region on ES.

The interviews will take place on  a live local radio phone in, pre-arranged from your chsoen phone number, during the middle of April. For example, if you live in Dorset, you will participate on the local radio station in the South western region.  It is hoped that we generate a dozen or so regional case studies and that the phone interviews will be broadcast during the same week.  Hopefully you will help make this a local but national ES awareness building project. If you would be happy to participate please email me back or ask a friend to drop me a line.  The focus will be on health challenges, lack of medical supervision, inability to work or socialise and lack of prospects either professionally or within the NHS for good medical or dentistry care and finally how have ES symptoms affect your life.

Once we know that you are interested, you will be linked up with the radio project presenter and your story will remain confidential. We are hoping that this level of due care will reassure you that the enquiry is valid and that it will be handled in a sensitive fashion.

ES-UK is supporting the project and helping make the radio work as stirring as is possible among listeners to raise awareness and help as many of us as is possible. Many of the listeners will not be aware of health effects linked to and triggered by EMFs.  We would sincerely appreciate as many of you becoming linked to this project as is possible.
If you can give this some thought it would be very much appreciated.
Kind regards Sarah Dacre, ES-UK
